A/N: I wrote this a year or so ago for a descriptive paragraph for an English class and added a little to it and came out with a River drabble. Thought of what might be going through River's mind if she was in a cave.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own River, only the drabble.

This is bigger than it appears from the outside. Only a couple of paces inside the archway --and my paces are very short-- the cave opens out into a seemingly vast chamber whose top is lost in shadow. It is dark, but --though at first I'm neither noticing this, nor looking for its cause-- with some source of extra light that is giving a vague illumination, showing the floor smooth and clear of obstacles. I'm making my way slowly forward, straining my eyes, with deep inside me the beginning of that surge, the excitement that sparks in me. For some it creates a fire inside, with me it's a blaze set upon a forest to light the earth ablaze with the unknowing moments, coming whenever they please and lasting just that… a moment… that lasts forever… until it ends and becomes yet a moment again. I didn't know then as I know now, but when you are alone and have nothing, you cling to the nothing, until it consumes you and you are surrounded by that nothing that consumes your soul in darkness to the extent of the important unimportance of all our emptiness. Maybe that's what the shadow at the top of the cave is made of… little empty souls with nothing left but the darkness.

A/N: Any reviews would be great. Whether they are praise or slams, I don't care because it only helps me become a better writer. THANKS!
