-"Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely"

The Backstreet Boy

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

**

Four children, three boys and a girl, stand together, but each feels alone.

**

The first, a tall boy with flaming red hair, is always second best. Never the smartest, never the bravest, never the most athletic, never considering himself special. In this way he is alone.

*

The next, the girl, is always pressured by every one to excel in everything. She wanted a childhood like her peers, but never got one. Forever forced by her parents to get perfect grades, later pressured by course schedules to study all of her time. She had no friends till she was eleven, and for this reason she feels alone.

*

The third, a boy with black hair and bright green eyes, is alone during the two months most children love the most. His cruel aunt and uncle are insensitive and uncaring, and they are his only relatives and he must stay with them during two long summer months. He is alone to much for his liking.

*

The final boy, the one with silver-blond hair and a cold expression, was alone for years, mistreated by his father, ignored by his mother, having no proper friends. He thinks he is the most alone.

**

Then the children realize they aren't as alone as they believed at first, and they think about their blessings.

**

The first boy realizes that, though he's not the best, he has a loving family and good friends. He isn't alone anymore.

*

The girl realizes her brains are a gift and should be thought of that way. Her parents were only trying to help her and they did love her. She is no longer alone.

*

The second boy realizes he has enough friend to be considered a family and he isn't at all lonely anymore.

*

The third boy has to search deeper than the first three to become less alone, but he finds his happiness with his new found friends.

**

The four children still stand together, but it is togetherness they feel, not loneliness.
