A/N: Yet another installment in the series of fics I wrote for my friend's birthday. XD I do hope you enjoy ^^
Disclaimer: Yep, still don't own Kingdom Hearts....I don't even own the game T.T
Panic had started to set in and I was running as fast as I could to find him. I slammed through the door to his bedroom to find: nothing. He wasn't here either!
"Dammit!" I growled under my breath, "Where can he be?!" Taking off again, I tried to remember where all they would hang out together and suddenly, an idea hit me. I immediately changed direction and ran for the roof. It was the one place I hadn't checked yet so if he wasn't there, it was time to world hop. And if I had to do that, I would probably never find him.
Thankfully, I found him slumped over by the edge of the building and hurried toward him. "Axel!" I whimpered, dropping to my knees next to him. He didn't acknowledge me. In fact, he didn't move at all. I tried to quell the panic rising inside as I shook him.
"Axel?"
He jerked his shoulder from my grip and I breathed a sigh of relief. "Axel, buddy, are you okay?" 'Alright, stupid question,' I thought as Axel turned to glare at me. I shrunk back and he growled, "What the fuck do you think?! Don't be such an idiot, Demyx." "I-I'm sorry, A-Axel," I stammered, leaning towards him again. "Of course you're sorry, everyone is sorry!" He jumped to his feet and stomped several steps towards the door before swinging back around to face me, "Well, you know what? I don't need you to be sorry! Sorry won't stop how I'm feeling; sorry won't..."
His breath hitched and his shoulders slumped, "Sorry won't bring him back." I watched his tirade from the ground with wide eyes but when he dropped to his knees, I jumped up to rush to him again. Tentatively, I wrapped an arm around his trembling shoulders and pulled him towards my chest. "He's gone, Dem," he sobbed, "He packed up and left! And what did he leave me? Nothing!"
"Axel," I murmured, hugging him close, "He'll come back." "I'm not too sure he will," Axel coughed, wiping at the tears on his cheeks, "You know what happens when one of us tries to leave." My heart seemed to stop as fresh tears poured down his face. "T-they wouldn't do that, w-would they?" I stuttered, tightening my hold around him.
"I wouldn't p-put it p-past them."
"Oh, Axel," I whispered, laying my cheek against the top of his head, "It'll be alright, I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you." Axel just cried harder. Rocking him, I hummed a lullaby until he calmed down and fell into a doze. Carefully, I picked him up and took him to his room via portal. I didn't leave his room the whole night.
"You said you would always be there for me," I murmured, staring at Demyx's panel on the floor of the Proof of Existence. The red color seemed to mock me as if to say it was my fault. "What happened? Normally, you would talk your way out of a fight before running. What happened this time?" Axel sighed. "I guess it's my turn. See you soon, Dem." And with that, Axel walked away, never turning back.
A/N: Sorry it's so sad! I just didn't feel like making them fluffy. ^^; It was either this or something with Demyx being bitter and I just didn't see that coming out too great. Let me know what you think!
