She knows why she wakes up, knows why she goes downstairs and makes two cups of tea. She knows why she doesn't touch her tea, but instead drinks the other one. Simply because it's all she has left of her sweet, Jenny. Strax had tried his best to revive her, done everything he had been taught, but nothing could save her, and now Jenny was gone and Vastra was alone.

The funeral is small. Vastra doesn't speak to anyone, not even the Doctor. Why should she? What's the point, she thinks. When it's over and everyone is gone, Vastra isn't sure what to do. So she begins to focus on her work, killing more people, then she should out of anger.

Christmas comes and goes, she still visits Jenny's grave every day. Always bringing flowers and picking any weeds that grow. Some nights she doesn't have the courage to sleep in what was once their bed. Instead she finds herself reading until she falls asleep in chair. It doesn't hit her until the day she wakes up and Jenny's scent is gone from the bed, and for once she can't control herself, she screams at the universe for being unfair, tears bedsheets and wallpaper. She doesn't care anymore, what's the point..?

Years pass and in a way she accepts that her love is gone forever. She becomes use to it just being her and Strax. Holidays pass and sometimes the Doctor comes to visit with a companion. In a way, it all seems like it used to be

She still visits Jenny's grave every day, still wears her wedding ring, still makes two cups of tea when she gets up
