She Hates Me
Summary: After his confession, Eli comes to grips with the fact that he lost Clare forever
It had only happened once. That's what he'd told Clare. And he was telling the truth. It had. When he'd become roommates with Lenore, he'd thought her to be attractive. Of course he did. It was only supposed to be a temporary solution and he hadn't meant for it to get out of hand. It was just that...Lenore had been so uncomplicated and flirty and fun. When she'd talked about her family, it was clear it was pretty normal. So had her highschool life. And they both had so much in common. He guess he'd gotten a little selfish. Clare had dealt with cancer and the whole situation with Asher, as well as her parents divorce, and not seeing much of her father. And then, they'd lost Adam. Getting to college, away from Canada and Degrassi, away from all of the hangouts and the people...including Clare, he supposed. He'd felt free. He wasn't the guy with bipolar disorder anymore. None of the kids knew about Julia or his wrecking his car for Clare. No one knew about the drugs, or Adam. He could pretend to be a whole other person.
Clare had been so upset when she'd found out. He knew that she had been flashing back to what he'd told her a few years back: "We aren't your parents, Clare". What a lie that turned out to be. In the end, he was just like Randall Edwards. He'd cheated on her and lied to her. He hadn't tried his hardest to even contact her. And he knew that eventually, she'd find her own Glen Martin. Maybe they should've never gotten back together in the first place. Maybe he was toxic to her. Hell, maybe he was toxic to every girl.
Eli's phone beeped, breaking him from his thoughts and a lump got caught in his throat at the sight of Lenore's picture. Taking a deep breath he looked at the text, smiling bitterly. He guessed it was no use denying himself sex with her, now. He'd already lost Clare. Typing in a reply, he stepped onto his plane and took his seat, shutting his eyes. He knew that by tomorrow, Jake would probably know what he'd done to Clare and so would Imogen, Alli, and Jenna. He was sure he'd be dealing with a lot of angry phone calls and he had to be prepared.
The end
