"It has taken years, but our happy ending's finally arrived. Or finally was created... from grief and sorrow and patience and impatience and jealousy and so many dammed things. Okay, not created, but pulled through our noses and other orifices, scraping skin and bones along the way. But I digress... "
*laughter*
"I, Jack Thomas O'Neill, take Samantha Olivia Carter, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part." *pauses* "But don't die."
Sam gently smiles. "Okay... " *clears throat*
"I, Samantha Olivia Carter, take Jack Thomas O'Neill, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold, tightly, from this day forward, for better or for worse, but better is better, for richer, for poorer, but please don't ask us to live out of your car."
Jack laughs.
"Sorry, I'm nervous." Sam pauses, watching Jack's soft and encouraging smile. "In sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part. And don't you die, either!"
*laughter*
Sams reaches up, softly stroking Jack's face. "Jack, you are the first time I've been 'in love'. I never knew it could feel this way. I feel complete. For the first time in my life."
Jack squeezes Sam's hand. "Sam... I'm not good with words, but... to know that I've got you to have and to hold, for the rest of my blessed life... for the first time, in a very, very long time, I have a reason to live. You gave me that." Sam strokes his hand. "I guess somebody up there likes me."
As the audience watches, Jack and Sam exhange rings and a tender kiss, and the minister pronounces them husband and wife.
And as the first notes of the first dance begins, Jack takes Sam into his arms.
"How're you doing, Mrs O'Neill?"
Sam leans in, feather kissing the soft spot of Jack's ear, and whispers, "Like I'm flying high."
Jack laughs, spinning Sam around, as the audience begins to take the dance floor.
The lights are low and the candles flicker to the breeze of the dancers, while the band plays, 'At Last'.
At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh yeah yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you
And I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh yeah yeah, and you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven
For you are mine at last
