"I told you so," Nora sneered, squatting a few inches away from the lifeless body, "it's impossible for a god and a human to love each other."

Yato paid no attention to the "stray" as he held Hiyori's cold hands tightly, with high hopes that the unmoving fingertips would wrap itself around the god's hands and she would open her eyes and smile at him.

"It's useless, Yato," Nora smiled innocently, "she'll never come back. You're back to square one – unloved, unknown, and forgotten—"

"Shut up," Yato growled. "She isn't dead. She'd probably gone to Kofuku's place to tutor Yukine, or maybe she's at Tenjin's shrine—it's exam week, anyways." He tried reassuring himself, even though he knew far too well that Hiyori would never come back.
