Summary: Lex shares more of himself with Helen...
"Something Special"
by M
-------
Helen woke to the scent of her favorite flower permeating the air.
With a smile on her face, she rolled over into the sunlight which streamed through the large picture window, feeling
the warmth of it spill across her skin.
The rich scent of coffee intermingled with the flowers and she smiled. "How long have you been up?"
Lex left the chair in the corner and brought the cup to her. "A while." He waited until she sat up placing it in her
hands. "Your first morning here...I thought something special might be in order."
"You didn't have to do that." Helen responded, lifting the cup and sniffing appreciatively. "Really."
"I wanted to." He said, his eyes wandering over her features as if etching the moment into his memory. "So I did."
She snuck a mischievous look at him from beneath her lashes. "A philosophy which has served you well over the years
no doubt."
He grinned at her, a surprisingly boyish grin that made her knees go weak. "It's had its moments."
Helen laughed quietly. "I can imagine." She took a slow sip then reached out, drawing his mouth to hers. "Thank you."
She murmured after they'd parted, gesturing to the flowers and the cup in her hand. "This...it's..." She smiled again.
"It is special...thank you."
He smiled in return and she saw something in his eyes relax, just slightly, before he kissed her again.
As their lips lingered, Helen had a sense that what was truly special wasn't the fact Lex had filled the room with her
favorite flowers or that he'd brought her coffee just the way she liked it...
It was the fact he'd wanted to. That he'd revealed another tiny part of his heart to her, let her share it with him.
*That* was special...
