Disclaimer: I do not own the Angel, or the characters. They are the rightful property of the WB network and Joss Whendon. I am making no money off this story so please don't sue me. I am just a poor college student!

Author's Note: This is something I've wanted to right since the Season Four Finale, but haven't had the inspiration to do. Here it is. Not what I had planned, but I think it's cute anyway. Different take on the Wesley/Lilah relationship. This is really short, 284 words. It's just a one shot piece.

- Flames are Eternal -

Wesley felt defeat, "I am sorry Lilah."

"Don't, I knew the consequences. I decided that I would rather live the high life while I was alive and burn in hell afterwards, than have a miserable life on Earth and a happy one after."

Wesley held out his hand to her and she took it, squeezing it. "I wish I could save you."

"You tried." She brought a hand to his cheek, "That's more than anyone has ever done for me before. I never told you, and you won't remember, but I love you Wesley."

"Lilah-"

She touched a finger to his lips, "Please. I don't expect anything in return."

He kissed the finger she had on his mouth, "You have it anyway."

She embraced him tightly and sadness gripped her stomach. Angel had made a deal with the senior partners. Once Wesley's memories were changed he wouldn't remember the passion they had shared or the words she had just spoken. She had meant them, truly. The only comfort she could find was that she would know and that their flames were forever eternal, at least in her own heart.

He pulled back, "What did you mean when you said I wouldn't remember?"

Lilah's eyes filled with tears, "It doesn't matter, because any explanation I give won't matter either." She took his hand, "Come on, we'll need to meet with the others."

When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Lilah released his hand because she knew the spell had already taken affect. Wesley was glaring at her with hatred rather than looking at her with tenderness, as he had moments before. It would be hell on Earth, Lilah thought, if I was still alive.
