Note : I don't really know if this is any good but I want to show a different side to this situation.
She knows exactly what is happening and that really fucking hurts! It's not like the last time this happened though, she's not in a lot of pain and she's not hysterically crying. She had some cramping when she first woke up, and she noticed a little bit of blood when she went to the bathroom, but she just knows.
'What's up, love?' Nick asks as he sits on the sofa, eating his breakfast and watching some crime documentary. Taking a deep breath, she leans against the door and sighs.
'I-I need you to take me to the hospital.' She replies causing him to turn around to face her. He glances down at her stomach before back up to her face.
'Yeah.' She whispers. He hits the standby button on the remote and places his breakfast on the table.
'Okay... Let's go.' He says taking her hand in his. He doesn't bother phoning Leanne to let her know he won't be in and she doesn't phone Aiden, because in this moment in time nothing else matters.
'I'm sorry.' This isn't the first time they've heard those words. This isn't the first time they've been in this hospital in the exact same situation. Only difference is this time they have each other.
He stays by her side the entire time and she couldn't be more grateful for him. The doctor is sweet and tells them that it wasn't there fault and sometimes these things happen... Of course they both know that but it does help a little.
He sits on the bed beside her, and she curls her body into his as they wait for her to be discharged. They're at the hospital for two hours at the most before they get told they can go home, with the strict instructions for Carla to take it easy for at least a couple of days.
She's barely through the front door when the tears fill her eyes, she kicks her shoes off and quickly makes her way through to the bedroom. Slamming the door she climbs into bed and instantly begins to sob. Only minutes later, Nick makes his way into the bedroom and climbs under the covers beside her.
'I'm sorry.' He whispers placing a kiss on her shoulder. She nods her head and feels one of his tears drip onto her shoulder.
'Do you need anything? I-I don't really know what to do.' He admits and she shakes her head.
'J-Just stay here with me.' She says quietly. He wraps his arms around her waist and she shuffles backwards into his embrace.
'I love you.' She whispers as he moves some hair out her face.
'I know... I love you too.' He says.
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.
'I don't want to move.' Carla admits and Nick smiles slightly.
'You don't have to... I'll get it.' He says getting out of bed and going to answer the door. It's been hours since they got home from the hospital, how many hours they don't know but it's been a while. Clutching a pillow to her chest, she curls up into a little ball as the tears once again begin to fall.
'Hi... I'm so sorry.' Michelle says as Nick opens the front door.
'T-Thanks.' He replies quietly. His cheeks are tear stained and his eyes slightly puffy.
'How is she?' She asks and he shrugs.
'She's in the bedroom. You can go through.' He replies and she nods her head. She gives him a quick hug before making her way through to the bedroom.
'Oh, Carla...' She says softly, making her way over to the bed as she hears Carla sobbing. She slowly pulls the covers back and pulls her best friend into her arms.
'I'm so sorry...' She says as Carla sighs.
'I-I know we could try again... I know that we might try again.' She says and Michelle nods her head.
'B-But I really wanted that one.' Carla adds.
