All Alone
by the Nature Sage

Lying here,
All alone,
I can only
Think of home.
The way things were,
The way they'll be.
It seems that I
Shall never see.

Fireflies
Flutter past,
Hope to make
This moment last.
I try forever
With all my might
Not to ever
Lose the fight.

No matter how
Things look to me,
There are others
Who can't see.
They're too young,
They're too blind
To see what happens
In my mind.

Lying here,
I regret
Forgetting people
I shouldn't forget.
My childhood friend,
Who taught to be true.
I will always
Think of you.

My heart-warming friend,
Who taught me song.
I'll never again
Stay away for so long.
My princess in need,
Who gave me her trust.
I'll be there for you
When you need me, I must.

But who I forget
The most, so it seems,
Is the childhood version
Of the grown-up me.
I like to think
That he still lives inside
But the place where he was
Must have gone off to hide.

I miss the innocent
Version of me.
I miss the person
That I used to be.
But fate does cruel things
To childhood minds.
Sent to the future,
Lost for all time.

Lying here,
All alone,
I can only
Think of home.
Where I am,
Where I'll be,
An ever-present
Mystery.
