Ohh, my very first Harry Potter thing. Be kind! Pretty please... :) Well, uhm. Seasons greeting, y'all. :) And if anyone has trouble figuring out who is who, just ask, and I'll tell, but it shouldn't be too hard.

Disclaimer: Honestly, one look at this piece of tripe should convince you I'm not Goddess Rowling.

As Winter Falls on Hogwarts

Silver clouds 'pon the Dome
Gather like the ocean's foam
And from the silver, diamonds drip
As if from winter's bucket tip
Like wheat is sown
The snow comes low
As winter falls on Hogwarts

And in a tower, an old man smiles
No mischief this dear wizard riles
He's looking down at children fair
With diamantine, snow-coloured hair
Like Merlin kind
He's hard to find
As winter falls on Hogwarts

Inside a class, a cat sits still
Of snow and winter had her fill
Her green, green eyes are strict yet kind
Her posture shows an keen, sharp mind
Then black-gold fur
Turns into hair
As winter falls on Hogwarts

And in a dungeon walks a man
No better brewer in the land
Half betrayer, half betrayed
He never far from goodness strayed
The cauldron boils
The ilness-foils
As winter falls on Hogwarts

Within a library sits a girl
Her hair is bushy with many curls
Her nose is firmly inside a book
Never bothers to throw the snow a look
Much she learns
And more discerns
As winter falls on Hogwarts

And by her side a redhead lands
Wild and gnarly his fiery strands
He speaks of Bludger, Quaffle and Snitch
"The sport of ev'ry wizard an' witch!"
And rolls his eyes
At the girl's sighs
As winter falls on Hogwarts

Listening is a green-eyed boy
who with his coaly black locks toy
He thinks of kindness, love and friends
And to his parents well-wishes send
His laugh is warm
His mind like storm
As winter falls on Hogwarts

And in a golden common room
A little girl with a laced broom
Walks her way to the wintry grounds
Where flights of fancy has no bounds
Once touched by dark
Now free as lark
As winter falls on Hogwarts

A round-faced boy with gentle voice
Smiles at the small toad of his choice
He sits by the frosty flowered window
Looking dimly at the woods below
For once in luck
With well-lined frock
As winter falls on Hogwarts

And deep in some dark corridor
A boy like the Veela of olden lore
Think bitter thoughts of a bitter world
But by cheerful chanting, glee unfurls
And once outside
A smile up lights
As winter falls on Hogwarts

A dream of what had once been there
Friends who'd called the school their lair
The wolf, the stag, the rat and dog
Renowned for tricks and spiked egg-nog
Sweet thoughts of yore
The love yet sore
As winter falls on Hogwarts

And even deeper, even darker a memory
A tall boy showing not what he would be
At the moment he smiles, for now he laughs
With warmth and cheer he greets the staff
For now so kind
If in one mind
As winter falls on Hogwarts

So in his tower, the old man smiles
Oblivious to the paper piles
That the demands his rapt attention
Of marks and detention and ascension
And diamonds fall
To all enthral
As winter falls on Hogwarts
