The Flight of the Gauntlet
Note: I'm in the THS Marching Band, pit to be exact, and this year we had to wear gauntlets. The scary thing about this story.it almost happened. In fact, it did fly through the band room. Now, on with the tale.
"I can't find my gauntlets!" I looked at Lacey, also in Pit, and then went back to searching. "Go find a band parent and get another pair" I nodded and walked around the basses and to the uniform room. The band parent gave me the gauntlets and I walked back to the spot I had been sitting. Lacey gaunted me, but they were huge on my small hands. After a few minutes, we all went outside. The band got in line and started the cadence, to which Lacey and I just marched to. Yes, so far so good, the gauntlets hadn't fallen off in the transition to the stands. Every time I played the maracas, the gauntlets slipped a little more. They barely covered the red sleeves, but at least they were still on. Half time came around, and the band before us were really good. Lacey, Kris, Will, and Scott walked on the right of the cart, but I walked on the left to hold the high-hats. Everything was set and ready to play. Spanish Dreams, our first song, was going well till we got to the very loud cymbal roll. All of us were going good till I heard a Whoosh and looked down to see that my gauntlet was gone! The white gauntlet hovered in the air. Lacey turned around just in time to watch it smack a cheerleader. She fell and the gauntlet flew backwards into the sousaphone bell! Brent, the sousaphone player, blew into the horn and the gauntlet was in the air again. A trumpet player was on the ground and the gauntlet flew one last time. To my horror, it flew across the field, carried by a sudden wind. A loud Smack was heard, followed closely by a lot of thuds. The opposite team's sousaphone player was hit and he fell, creating a huge domino effect. After the dust was cleared and people were carried off. I walked over, picked up my gauntlet, which landed on the ground beside me, and walked away whistling.
Note: I hope you enjoyed that. Hey Lacey, I wrote it :D I'm so proud of myself. Well, as you can tell, most of it came from the imagination, but the first part was true. I jerked my hand back when I went back to sit down, and the white power ranger looking gauntlet flew backwards and landed by the marimba! Oh yea, please do review and tell me if it was good or horrible.
