Laurel Castillo "daze" 18

There is little room

in this new world

for little victories:

it seems so meaningless,

so easy to overlook

when the world Laurel

lives in

moves at a breakneck speed,

Speeding away fast enough

that acknowledgement of

the small things in life

seems impossible.

Being meticulous has its uses

and yet…

having an eye for detail

only has its uses

when it aids the big picture.

What's the point

of seeing the universe

with sharp, keen brightness

when it seems like

all that's seen is through

dazed doubt.

Why try when

all is naught but

a blip on a radar

no one has time to acknowledge?

(It's self-indulgent

to acknowledge these feelings aloud

but better

to work through them

than bottle it up

and become the next Shooting Star)
