Captain John Sheridan (circa 2259)
An empty desk is an efficient desk! That is what he had always been told. So now, as he stared at the mountain of paperwork on his desk, John Sheridan began where the heck he had gone wrong. He had to read and sort out the latest request from the Dockers' Guild, arrange ten different meetings with ten different ambassadors over the next few days and somehow find time to rearrange star-fury patrols outside the station. He rubbed his temples and let out a loud sigh wishing he could just leave it all behind and go for a stroll in hydroponics but he knew that was impossible. His conscience would never allow him to get away with it, besides if he did that by the time he returned there might be so much paperwork that he wouldn't be able to see his desk.
Perhaps he would just pass on patrol schedules to Ivanova, she could handle it. And hopefully he wouldn't have to arrange any meetings if he could sort out all of their problems at today's League of Non-Aligned World's session. So he put those bits of paper work to the side for now and started to properly read the Dockers' Guild request. After about twenty minutes he put the paper aside in disgust, it was the same thing he had denied them the last time they had requested him, they had just tried to word a little differently. Just because he was a hardened career military officer that did not mean he was a stupid jarhead. He composed the politest message for the guild and sent it off to them then continued working through the mountain until he had to leave and change into his dress uniform for the League session.
Two hours later he was back in his office, feeling even more frustrated. He had not managed to avoid any of his appointments, in fact he now had two more too arrange. Also the meeting had merely consisted of an hour and a half of sabre rattling between the Narn and the Centauri which was never easy to listen to and he still had the rest of his paperwork to get through. John Sheridan sighed and poured himself a glass of orange juice. It was going to be a long tedious next few days.
More to come soon!
