Disclaimer: We all know it. Hal. knows it. He owns them, we don't.
Author's notes: Well here is a different one. I am not sure if anyone has written one from this perspective already, as I am still working my way through the archived stories. But I was thinking about Mick, and what he would be feeling knowing that he should have been there. So, this is through Mick's eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the rest of his life he would regret that one night.
How was it that one stuff up, could turn out so damn disastrous.
If only he had been there.
He should have been there.
He was never going to forgive himself for not being there.
He knew that even if he left his mobile phone on permanently for the next twenty years, another call like that would never come through.
It was a once in a lifetime.
Her lifetime.
God, he thought Jack was going to kill him.
And in the scheme of things, he would have been totally justified.
He knew that Jack was right.
His phone, his responsibility.
Time would move on, but he knew Jack would never forgive him.
But they had to work together.
That was just a matter of fact.
Jack had walked in there like a zombie.
His mind and body working on autopilot.
Hell, she must have been totally drained of life.
Jack was covered with it.
Soaked into his clothes, his skin.
Blood.
Her blood.
And when the big picture unfolded, it wasn't her that was the target.
Damn you Rachel!
Wrong place at the wrong time.
She just walked right into it.
But still, he should have been there.
Back-up.
Her back-up.
The End.
