An uncertain certainty
Disclaimer – Unfortunately, I don't own anything. Please read and review but most importantly – ENJOY!
A/N –This is set during the part of the episode '38 minutes' when they are discussing using the defibrillator on Major Sheppard. It is from Teyla's point of view. And I literally had this idea, while watching 38 minutes, and wrote it in the last ten minutes. So now, I'm off to watch the ending, which I missed because I was writing this. Please review to tell me what you think!
He wanted them to kill him. That thought lodged itself in Teyla's mind as silence settled in the 'puddle jumper'. She looked at Ford and McKay, glad to see her own disbelief at what he was suggesting mirrored on their faces.
Then the doctor said he was right. Her disbelief grew.
Ford was appalled at the suggestion, it was written all over his face but Sheppard was convinced. She could see it in his eyes. Teyla had to force herself to pay attention instead of following that thought and looking into the Major's eyes.
Her name was called, she concentrated. They valued her knowledge and needed it, especially now. But she also realized that while getting her to understand they were also explaining what would happen to everyone else listening.
At Sheppard's words Ford flew into action, he moved so quickly and smoothly it surprised her. So did his commands. But she followed them, ignoring the feeling of confusion they brought to her. But there was no confusion when she said she would go through the Stargate with him. She knew she could die but that did not matter. Not now.
Then there was silence. Stillness. She was going to have to watch as Ford killed him. The lieutenant hesitated. Teyla knew that he did not want to do it; she did not know whether she could if she was asked to. Then, with a final order from their leader, the charge was sent through his body.
And he was dead.
But she could not linger on that fact. Teyla grasped the foul creature and pulled. She pulled with all her might. It wouldn't move. The doctor spoke again, they listened and obeyed, and then she pulled again. And slowly, it seemed to take so long, the creature's legs moved then it slid off the Major's throat and into her hand.
Teyla grimaced then threw the foul creation away from her and the Major. Ford stood instantly and emptied a barrel load of bullets into the foul thing. When it ceased to move Teyla grabbed Ford's jacket and wrapped the dead thing up in it. Meanwhile, Ford had charged the machine and given the Major another shock.
Nothing.
She helped Ford move the Major's body towards the Stargate, McKay opening the door to allow them through. McKay grabbed the arm she was holding so she could move behind the Major. She gripped his body firmly, she didn't want to let go. If she was going to die at least she would not be alone. She would be with him.
And when she looked at it like that, Teyla knew that what she was doing would be worth it. If everything else worked out as well, she would live and so would the Major. And she could learn more about his world and him. It would be worth it.
Knowing this she stepped back, taking the Major with her into uncertainty with the certainty that everything would work out as it was planned. But she wasn't alone, she was with him and that was what mattered.
A/N –Hope you liked it, I haven't decided whether there will be a sequel or another chapter so please tell me what you think. I'm also working on another Atlantis fic which I should be posting soon. Stay tuned folks!
