Hello my name is Roku. Lets just get a few things clear first. First of
all, Red XIII will be referred to as Nanaki, his true name. Final Fantasy 7
is one of the best out there besides 10, and Nanaki is one of my favorit e
charcters. I always wondered what happened the day the GI attacked, so I
hope everyone enjoys this. Constructive criticism is welcome, but no hate
mail please. Special Thanks to my best friends ever, Ashley, Renee, Deidre,
and Becky. And to Anna, my twin sister. I do not own FF7 or any of it's
characters so please don't sue me. I'm a begining author and will try to

Nanaki stood on the cliffs of Cosmo Canyon, the fiery sun warming his back. Even though the sun was hot, Nanaki enjoyed the warmth. It was almost as if he was connected with the heat, somehow, some way. Bugenhagen had said his species had a special bond with fire, and this was defiantly enough proof. The beating drums and flutes of Cosmo Canyon could be heard in the distance, blending with the surroundings. But aside from that fact, Nanaki looked up at the sky. The icy blue was mixed with crimson of the setting sun and smooth glowing clouds, as well as purple and amber, mixing with the paint colors of the canyon, blending together in a dazzling array where earth and sky had no boundary. A part of each other, though far off. Meteor was gone from the sky, and fear along with it.
He had helped to save the planet, against Jenova, Sephiroth, and all of the many things he and his friends had found on his quest. He had gained strength, yet not all of it was on the outside. Inside, he had grown. He was a hero, just like his father, Seto was. However, before, Nanaki had always thought his father was a coward, and for a good reason too.
Long ago, when Nanaki was very small, the Gi tribe, a powerful clan, attacked Cosmo Canyon. Nanaki was very small and could not remember to much, but his father, had run off, run away from the Gi. Nanaki was horrified, the brave father he thought was a coward running away. He forgot about the canyon, the people, and Nanaki and his mother. The Gi was defeated, but from then on Nanaki was ashamed of his father, and ashamed to be his son. Nanaki and his mother had to survive as the last of their species, with no others. Nanaki's species aged more than four times slower than humans did, and therefore had long lifespans. Nanaki had a harder childhood then most because he would have not long lasting relationships and no others of his kind. However, time passed and he became a great warrior along with his mother, gaining his own scars. One day, his mother, yearning to find others of her kind, wandered away from the canyon and never returned. Nanaki followed short after, and was captured by the Shinra, where he was to be experimented by Hojo. But Nanaki was a smart boy and acted like a dumb beast so he could find a way to escape. He was put into an experiment to mate with a human named Aeris, and put on a good fake act. He was saved by Cloud and the others and.....well, the rest is history. Nanaki and his friends came back to the canyon, but this will be discussed in a later chapter.
But now lets go back, back to before the defeat of Sephiroth and Meteor, before the killing and betrayal, before Nanaki's fate, before even Cloud and the others were born. Back to when Nanaki was but nearly an infant in Cosmo Canyon, and we will learn the true story. ***********************
