Peace

1. We see a blue sky for most of the day. It is blue, scientifically. That is because we recognise it as blue and we call it blue. But, you know, in the early hours of the morning, it is not blue. It is not one colour. It is a cold mixture of warm colours. It is a lonely sky painted in all shades of red and orange and pink at the edges. And this cold mixture tries to draw out the stark blackness from the rest of the sky, softening it to a blue. The blue we see.

-Tenten drew him out. From his darkness, she brought him into brightness. Not blinding and sunny brightness, but one that soothed his pain.

He knew it. She didn't.

2. With the advent of the sun, it warms up. Brightens. Sort of ruining the calm coldness. Introducing chaos. Introducing thoughts, consciousness and a lot more, that is better off tucked away in some corner of the lonely sky. This chaos makes the sky lonelier. The early morning cold is highly preferred…

-He woke up at the crack of dawn because he could think at that time. He could think about what he wanted to think, not what he should be thinking about.

And he wanted to think about her.

3. Soon, the day begins. It is pure chaos. Nothing new. It is everything we see and do every day.

-It was a marred peace. He did not like it. He saw her during the day, but he did not like it. It was too mechanical. He wanted to see her, but not that way. Not in chaos – because in chaos she was the only center of peace and calm, but his periphery kept reminding him that he could not hold onto that peace.

He ached for peace. He did not know why…

4. Dusk dawns. How ironic. Dusk does resemble Dawn. Turning into those warm colours again. But it is different this time. The evening is warm. The sky is warm. The colours are not hardening the brightness of the blue. They are mashing into the black.

-It was time to return and retire for the day. This was always depressing. Why did he feel that he had again had a day of nothing. Like always. Nothing – Normal.

Did life continue like that?

5. The night is always dark. So mysterious.

-He snuck out in the middle of the night once. To go see Tenten. She was not asleep. She welcomed him in. Neither saying a word. She went to prepare some tea. He spent the entire night with her, on her balcony, staring at the sky, with her right beside him. When dawn came, he felt the peace again. This time, however, he knew that the day would not be chaotic. She was the emissary of peace that kept his world together.

Soaking in the peace, she turned to look at him and said, "It is a cold calm, isn't it, Neji?" He smiled slightly.

That was all he needed to know that no matter where he was or how he was, she was his peace.
