Author's Note

As you can see, this is my first Soul Eater fic attempt. My friend got me to watch Soul Eater for the first time this past week and I fell in love. So, this is for her. :) Enjoy!

Maka sighed softly, sitting up and opening her mossy green eyes. She glanced over at her window and laid back against the pillows. "It's not even dawn yet..." She climbed out of bed, slipping her on her bathrobe over her nightgown, and ran her fingers through her haird. She shook her head, letting it settle over her shoulders as she walked past Soul's door. She hesitated. She quietly opened the door and peeked inside.

Soul was sprawled across his bed, as usual. He shifted restlessly in his sleep, turning toward her. She tiptoed inside, sneaking over to her weapon's side. She could see the thin raised scar beneath his night shirt, causing her to sigh.

"No. Please. Don't," he mumbled, his fingers clenched in the comforter beneath him.

"Shhh..." Maka whispered, gently stroking his messy silver hair. "Everything's okay now..."

Soul relaxed slightly beside her, muttering unintelligbly as he turned onto his side.

Maka smiled softly, leaning over and kissing his cheek before standing up. She pulled her robe closer to her, glancing down at her friend. "Sleep well, Soul." She turned on her heall and shook her head slightly to herself as she began to sneak away.

A hand shot out, clamping down around her wrist. "Wait," he mumbled sleepily, looking up at her wearily, "please."

She nodded, moving back over to the bed. She sat back down, pulling her wrist from his grasp. She held his hand in hers, stroking his skin softly with her thumb. "I'm right here."

He smiled softly, laying back down.

She pulled his blankets over him and laid down on her side next to him.

Soul scooted closer, setting his head next to her chest. He closed his eyes as he heard the soft beating of her heart and sighed.

She pulled him closer, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. She stroked his hair softly, humming quietly.

His arms snaked their way around her waist as he sighed softly.

"I'll be right here. Always."

He squeezed her middle gently as his breathing started to deepen.

"Sleep well, Soul." Maka smiled as she rubbed his back gently. She sighed as her own eyes started to grow heavy despite her will.

Soul smiled as he felt the girl relax. "I know I will now," he thought as he slipped into a dreamless slumber at last.
