I wrote this for someone on tumblr via askbox...and I actually kind of liked it so I thought I would post it here. I'm working on a little side story to Will You so stay tuned for that! This probably has lots of errors but hey, I wrote it as a fun little ficlet. Enjoy!
It was the first week of summer vacation and Kurt was sprawled out on a blanket in his back yard. He scrunched his nose as he yawned and blinked blearily through sunglasses up at the bright sun over head. He sighed moodily and draped an arm over his forehead.
"Move over, would ya?" Kurt's eyes snapped open and met Blaine's warm honey ones.
His teeth flashed in a brilliant smile and Kurt felt his heart skip. "I didn't know you were coming over," he said while allowing Blaine room to sit next to him. Blaine shrugged and plopped down, automatically grabbing for one of Kurt's hands.
"I would have been over sooner had Cooper not been here the past week," he absent-mindlessly stroked Kurt's knuckle, "You know how he is. He 'requested' for my attention all week," Blaine rolled his eyes. Kurt quickly placed a kiss to Blaine's palm before rolling onto his back; his head propped on Blaine's lap.
"But you love him, anyways." Blaine ran his hand through Kurt's hair and hummed "But I love him anyways." They sat quietly for a moment, intoxicated in each others' presence and the prospect of a summer spent wrapped in each other.
"Your dreams aren't over, you know that, right?" Blaine broke the quiet. Kurt felt the air rush out of him.
"Blaine-"
"No. Kurt, listen. Just because NYADA was stupid enough not to accept you, doesn't mean you aren't talented enough." It was an argument they'd had since Kurt got his rejection letter. "You rocked that audition."
"Then why didn't I get in? Why did Rachel who, bless her lovely soul, choked during her audition, make it?" Blaine's chest vibrated as he chuckled.
"Because she stalked Carmen Tibideaux until she was forced to watch Rachel sing." Kurt lightly smacked Blaine's knee and his boyfriend quickly became somber. "I don't know, Kurt. I just know that you have too much talent to let one rejection letter ruin it."
Kurt scoffed, "My entire New York-"
"You're entire New York Dream depended on it, so you've said." Blaine removed Kurt's sunglasses and stared down into eyes reflecting so much sadness he felt his heart twang painfully. "So what you didn't get into NYADA. Maybe your New York Dream doesn't have to be about performing."
"What-" Blaine quickly shushed Kurt with a chaste kiss.
"What about fashion? I've never met anyone with as much fashion sense as you. Not only that but you can design the most brilliant outfits I've ever seen...and sew. Do you know how hard it is to sew?"
"It really isn't-"
"I've stabbed myself enough times with a needle to disagree." Kurt huffed, understanding he wasn't going to win this argument.
"Fashion is extremely competitive," he said halfheartedly.
"And performing isn't?" Blaine countered. Kurt tried to find a counter argument but couldn't.
"...Do you really think I could make it in the fashion world?" Blaine placed a chaste kiss to the bridge of Kurt's nose.
"Definitely. Will it be easy? No. But I have faith in you." Kurt sighed and raised his hand to stroke Blaine's cheek.
"Did you know that I love you?"
"Really? Here I thought my love for you was one-sided," Blaine joked and Kurt rolled his eyes fondly. Blaine leaned down and captured Kurt's lips in simple kiss. Kurt stopped him from pulling back and rolled them so he was laying half on top of Blaine. He gazed down at his boyfriend and placed a lingering kiss to the corner of Blaine's mouth.
"I love you so much." Blaine simply smiled and leaned up for another kiss.
"I love you, too."
