The hospital was calm and quiet. It had the fimilar cleansed and sterile feel to it. The wall were all perfect white. The plastic skirting was a usual dull grey. Even the sheets were white as fresh mountain snow. The view was nice though. Dublin looked beautiful in late summer. The sun shone brightly and glistened through the trees. And yet still Valkyrie felt the cold mist of death clouding both the air and her thoughts.

Tanith had been taken over by a deamon and it had latched on to her soul. There was no known way to get rid of it apart from killing the host. Valkyrie hoped they wouldn't have to do that and they would get Tanith back. They had managed to get rid of the Deamon but it had left Tanith very weak in a comma. Valkyrie had not left her side since they had finished the operation.

Valkyrie sat there thinking about what she would say and do whenshe woke up. She listened to all the mumbles and groans that came out of Tanith. Skullduggery came every so often bringing food and drink or a magazine

As she was thinking she heard Tanith groan again and her hand fell out from under the sheets. Though deathly pale Valkyrie laced her fingers into the hand and it tightened. Doctor had been looking for reactions to varying different stimulia and she had just got one. She would tell the doctors when they came.

The thought of this must have triggered something has the doctors came rushing down and into the room.

"What did you just do?!" Asked one of the doctors, surprised "We just had major brain function"

"Her hand fell out and I held it and she tightened her grip" replied Valkyrie

"Keep doing what you are doing" said the doctor as the group walked of.

A little while later the clock clicked past midnight. Valkyrie was still their despite Skullduggery telling her to go home and the doctors offering her a bed for the night. She was about to go when Tanith mumbled somthing. Valkyrie leaned over and said

"Sorry Tanith, I can't hear you."

"Get in with me" replied Tanith

Suprised Valkyrie lay on top of the sheets and snuggled up next to Tanith and slid her hand round her waist. Tanith locked her hand in with Vals and they fell asleep together. Slowly but surely parts of Tanith's brain started to switch on and she began to wake up from a long sleep.

Valkyrie woke to Tanith sitting on the bed beside her, still holding hands. They smiled at each other and then Tanith leant forward and kissed Valkyrie on the forehead.

"Thanks Val" wispered Tanith

"All for my best friend" replied Valkyrie
