Faster than the speed of sound.
He jumped from rooftop to rooftop, carefully avoiding any obstacles that lie in his path. He was pretty high up but he wasn't afraid. He was never afraid.
A free spirit…like the wind.
He kept his eyes on the horizon. Where it would take him? What lies ahead of him? What dangers would he face? That was the excitement, the adventure.
With the power to control the light.
He couldn't stop running. He always had to move forward. He was a hero, a protector. He was the only one who could stop it.
Why do you run when it is hopeless?
He heard the sound of an engine above him. It was the X-Tornado. Tails was in the front, Amy in the back. Tails was waving frantically, and Amy blowing kisses his way.
"Sonic!" they called.
Why do you continue to fight?
He sent a wave and a smile their way. He turned his focus back to the horizon. He felt like he was getting closer…but he wasn't sure.
Why do you continue to resist the darkness?
Knuckles stood from his place of rest, the Master Emerald safe and sound. He looked to the setting sun. A smirk settled on his face.
What is your purpose? What are you fighting for?
Vanilla kissed Cream on her forehead and left her daughters room. She closed the door silently and walked down the hall. She walked past a window, and something caught her eye. She backtracked and looked into the horizon. She smiled.
Why do you not give up?
He slowed his pace and finally came to a stop. The sun was setting and the sky was a beautiful mixture of orange, red and purple. The stars were beginning to shine, and the breeze was warm and comforting. He stretched his arms above his head and yawned.
I do not understand. Tell me!
Sonic smirked and looked to the horizon once again.
"I won't let this world fall into darkness. I fight for peace."
You fight this hard to obtain peace? Is this world so important to you?
Sonic let out a laugh.
"Of course! All of my friends are here. I won't let you have this world. You'll have to beat me, Sonic the hedgehog!"
Hmph, very well.
Sonic smirked and began to run once again. He will never win, because Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive, will always be there.
