Levy McGarden had never been the aggressive type of person. She was sweet and patient, always reading her books or talking to Lucy about different writing techniques. It took ages to incur her ire, and even if somehow did so, she was quick to forgive. She had even gone so far as to pardon the ex-Phantom Lord members for the harm they did her guild, and Fairy Tail loved her even more for that. She was a pacifist, and everyone, including Gajeel, knew it.
Which was why he was shocked to see the door of his cheap apartment blown apart and the blue-haired mage standing among the smoke. She was short, that was true, but the amount of destruction she could produce just by writing one word was fearful.
"Shorty? The hell was that for?"
Never has the phrase "small but terrible" been more true. Her hair was tied up and her face had pure anger written all over it as she marched up to the dragonslayer that was thrice her size. Gajeel was just thankful Pantherlily wasn't there to sense how unnerved he was at that moment.
"How dare you-" Levy was jabbing his chest with a finger with every word she said "steal a book from me!"
"I didn't st-"
She completely ignored him and continued with her rant. "Do you have any idea how long it took me to figure out where this book was? It could've been left in Tenrou Island, for all I know! And then Lucy tells me she saw you reading it in the guild! Since when do you even read?"
"Shorty, calm the fuck down. It was lying around in the guild and it was about dragons, so I figured it can't be as shit as everything else you read."
Her usually warm, brown eyes were glaring daggers at him that were sharper than the metal he ate. "Where is it now?"
"In my room. I'll get it." And Gajeel did just that, mostly because this angry Levy was starting to scare him. That, and the book was actually shittier than anything else he'd ever read; not that Gajeel read much, anyway.
Levy was still in the living room, waiting. He was about to give her her precious book when he had an idea and a malicious grin formed on his face. He raised his arm, making sure the book was out of her reach. "Oi, Shorty. I'll give it back to you… if you dance for me."
God, she no wonder she had those two idiots under her complete control. The look she gave him then was nothing compared to the one he had received before; it was just flat out terrifying. What made Gajeel behave, however, was the pen she had begun to raise.
"Oi, oi, fucking relax, I was joking. It's hard enough to clean this place without you making everything explode." He lowered his arm, and she her pen, as she stepped towards him. She was still angry, but for some reason, Gajeel could sense determination from her as well. Fucking people with their confusing as fuck emotions.
Levy reached her arm out when she reached him, but not towards the book. She grabbed the front of his tattered shirt and pulled him a very long way down to kiss his mouth with hers. Yes, she was definitely infuriated. He could sense that much from the kiss: it was quick, but raw with emotion. For a brief moment, his hand was on the small of her back, her eyelashes fluttered on his cheek, her hair tickled his neck, and Gajeel was happy, but then she pulled back. Before he could ask her where the hell that came from and who the fuck drugged her drink, she shot him a final glare and walked through his no longer existent door.
She didn't even take her book.
