The Killer's Shadow
Prologue
The man let out a hacking cough and brought up more blood. With his trembling fingers, he felt the two punctures wounds in his chest. He craned his neck towards the wounds. There was two neat holes gushing his red lifeblood. The man groaned and tipped his head back onto the cold, hard ground. Why did he have to work for him?
He put everything in danger; his parents, his country, himself, his wife and the twins and that woman's daughter.
That woman... The man turned his head to the side and closed his eyes. He thought about the woman who had attacked him and left him for dead. Raven hair, red lips, beautiful complexion.
After the woman had stabbed him, she bent down and said "I'm sorry, but I have to do this for my Lara".
The man coughed again, closed his eyes and died.
Doctor Doom groaned as the child he had hostage whined again "SILENCE!" shouted Doom at the nine-year-old child.
"Why should I?" demanded the child.
"BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR MOTHER DEAD THEN SHUT UP!" yelled Doom.
The little girl looked defiant but didn't speak. After a short time of silence, the girl spoke again but in a hushed whisper. "What do you want with me and my mum?"
"I NEED YOUR MOTHER TO ELIMINATE A SMALL PROBLEM FOR ME AND I NEED YOU TO ENSURE SHE DOES IT" said Doom.
