A/N: Technically, this is Tethys/Marisa, but Tethys/Marisa/Gerik is implied.
I don't really write romance because I'm not good at romantic timing, really. This is the first 'romance' thing I've really written, as a result.
Comments and Criticisms are always welcome. If anything regarding how this is written irks you or just doesn't sound right, please bring it to my attention so that I can improve.
"We may be rivals, but we're still friends."
Tethys had made this statement in a conversation with Marisa several months prior. Tethys, however, was beginning to wonder if her statement still held true. They were still friends, of course, possibly even best friends, and Tethys had no intention of ever not being Marisa's friend. In fact, Tethys found that such a possibility hurt to even imagine.
The truth was, Tethys cared a great deal for Marisa, something which bordered on adoration. She still loved Gerik, of course.
So did Marisa.
And that was why they were rivals, wasn't it?
But they didn't have to be.
She was a master at deciphering people's emotions.
Tethys saw the way Gerik looked at Marisa. It was the same way that she looked at Marisa, and the same way that he looked at her.
He loved them both.
It did not matter which one of them loved him more, because he loved them both.
Tethys and Marisa did not have to be rivals.
Tethys did not want to be rivals. Not anymore.
To be rivals meant there was a risk of losing one another, and Tethys didn't want that. She wanted Marisa in her life just as much as she wanted Gerik. For Marisa, Tethys could share.
"We don't have to be rivals, you know."
Marisa looked at her with a confused expression. "What do you mean?"
But before Marisa could think any more on it, Tethys had kissed her.
No, they did not have to be rivals.
