Rain

A 200-word drabble. Short.

R ain…

He was like the rain in many ways- Constant, chilling at beautiful. Movements unpredictable, save for those who had learned to memorize the patterns. He could be warm, or he could bring an icy coldness that could freeze one's blood in their veins. He was always moving, never completely still in his search, but he could pause his relentlessness if his life depended so.

She was like nature in many ways- Steady, merciless and had as many secrets as Mother Nature herself. One could only appreciate her if they stepped back and viewed the entire picture. A stonewall would eventually crumble to wind, hail and chocking vines. It was the way of the forest, and the way of instinct- eat or be eaten. She was exactly what you would except- but only when you dug would you is rewarded by the true surprises.

Like the first shoot of spring, She would come out of nowhere, surprising but beautiful, and rely on him. Only rain can sustain a flower, because without it, the flower would shrivel and die. She needed sunshine too, (Though not too bright, as his smile sent a 'ping' every time) but not as much as she needed rain. If she was to become a tall oak, unforgiving and merciless, roots twisting up the ground and chewing through great structures, she needed water; She needed rain.

Because as much as a forest needs rain… she needs him.
