Space, the last place where Samus wanted to be stuck in. The frigid temperatures of the cold vacuum began to seep their way into the ship. With nothing but her zero suit to keep her warm, her days if not hours were numbered to a remaining few. She set up what remained of her helmet to record a message to the only person to her that mattered.
"Is this thing on?" Samus asked gently tapping on the visor. "Hi, Adam. If you find this recording, don't feel bad about this. Part of the journey is the end."
Samus had been adrift in space for almost a month in a ship she had no idea how to control, sharing it with someone who she didn't get along; Corrin and with rapidly dwindling supplies.
"Just for the record being adrift in space with zero chance of rescue is more fun than it sounds."
Samus could feel her consciousness fading in and out as she gasped for air.
"Food and water ran out… four days ago. Oxygen will run out tomorrow morning and that will be it."
Samus poked at her helmet, thinking back to ten long years ago when she built the suit to save herself from the space pirates.
"When I drift off, I will dream about you. It's how I see it."
A tear rolled down Samus's face as she turned off her helmet, readying herself for the end.
Since it all happened, Ganondorf had gone missing entirely. Some say he found a spot on Earth to rest for the remainder of his life, other say he returned to his home planet to rebuild it. But where he was ultimately didn't matter. His actions had done more damage than any threat the smashers have ever face.
Back on Earth….
"Ganondorf did exactly as he said he would," Bayonetta said is disbelief examine a chart with a projected death toll. "He wiped out fifty percent of all life on Earth."
Little Mac had written on a chalkboard which smash members remained and which one were wiped out. The smashers base was as empty as can be. Only a handful of members left populated it. Ike sat looking miserable in a corner thinking about his battle with Ganondorf. He wished to heaven and back he had "gone for the head" as Ganondorf taunted him with.
"We lost, all of us," Link began thinking back to watching his friend Snake vanish before him. "We lost friends, we lost family. We lost a part of ourselves. This is the fight of our lives."
Link pulled out a compass we had not opened since the great Hyrule War. In it he had a picture of his once girlfriend now passed: Malon.
"This is gonna work Link," Bayonetta said to Link with an unsure look on her face.
"I know it is," Link said with a stern gruff. "Because I don't know what I'm going to do if it doesn't."
Just then, one of the monitors for the base began showing someone on screen.
"Hi is anyone home!" the person yelled into the security camera. "This is Alph! We met a few years ago, at the airport, in Sinnoh!"
"When is this from?" Link asked.
"It's the front door!" Bayonetta realized.
"You remember, I got really big and helped you escape. Can you buzz me in?" Alph demanded.
