I.O.U. 1
"Malfoy!" Grunt Harry through clenched teeth, his short breath comes out in intervals of pain and exhaustion, "Get yourself and the kids out of here, now!"
A quick scan of the messy situation that seems to follow the luck of Harry Potter tells Draco Malfoy that, or once, he agrees with Potter completely. However, hours of etiquette lessons and a lifetime of practicing looking down on others would never allow Draco to admit that to himself, let alone Harry Potter. Dodging a stray hex shot from the wand of a suspiciously familiar hooded figure, Draco takes a look at the three frightened first years and decides that he might as well takes them with him as he saves his own skin.
"You owe me one, Potter!"
"Whatever, Malfoy!"
********************************
Normally, in situations like this, one would be throwing him/herself over Potter's heroism, but not Malfoy. The moment Potter stands up and runs away from their hiding spots, taking most of the hooded figures with him, Draco grabs the three little brats and pushes them under the covered table of The Three Broomsticks.
He grabs a bottle of ketchup on the table and smears handful of the red, gooey stuff all over himself. He then instructed the kids to do the same.
"Now, no matter what you hear outside, just hold your breath and play dead, alright?"
The three little heads nodded before arranging themselves into neatly and suspiciously comfortable positions. Draco makes sure they are completely covered under the table before laying down himself in the near by corner and prepare to act out the greatest role of his life.
All would have gone well, had Weasley not run around, screaming bloody murder and lead one of the hooded-figure into his hiding place.
Even then, the immaculate mind of a Malfoy would have saved Draco, for he is very good at playing dead, had Weasley not stumbled over a fallen chair and used his beautiful face as cushion.
Even then, Draco could have make best of the situation and uses Weasley's immobile body as a shield, seeing that he has hit his head on the table when he looses his balance, if the stupid Death Eater has not accidentally stomped on his beautifully manicured hands as he advances on Weasley, causing Draco to scream out in pain and anguish. His scream has startled the Death Eater, making him pause in confusion and gives Draco just enough time to grab his leg and pulls it with all his might, causing the Death Eater to lose his balance and lands on the floor in a fashion very much like that to Weasley, only this time, no beautiful blond is acting as cushion, but a broken table leg that pierces right through his stomach.
It has also been his scream that brought Colin Creevey, his camera, and Trelawney rushing into the dark cellar of the Three Broomsticks.
One look at his tousled hair, bloody nose, bruised face, and broken finger, even the most foolish of fools would be able to tell that Draco Malfoy has been in a life-and-death battle with the most dangerous Death Eater.
One look at his angry stance over the dead Death Eater tells the world that Draco Malfoy has not only won the fight, but also saved three little children, and Harry Potter's unconscious best friend, Ronald Weasley.
News travel fast. And for once, everybody knows Draco Malfoy has been the hero, and that Harry Potter has owed him one.
