A Prequel

Beca was new to the phenomenon of caring about people, but she could tell one thing. Although she was dating Jesse(well, stringing him along was a better term. She hadn't really done anything couple-related with him in a month), she cared deeply about Chloe.

The brunette just had a few problems to overcome first…. First, she had to admit her feelings to the Chloe. Then, she had to break up with Jesse. On second thought, maybe she had the wrong order. She didn't really want to do either thing. Breaking up with Jesse and telling Chloe she wanted to be with her meant taking risks. Maybe I'd be happier if I just stayed with Jesse, humored him a bit more, Beca thought to herself. She knew almost immediately after she thought it that she didn't want to do that, either.

Beca sighed loudly. Kimmy Jin, her roommate, threw down the notebook she was scribbling in. "I swear to God, if you don't stop with your pathetic self-pity in the next five minutes, I'm going to physically remove you from this room and never ever let you back in."

"Geez, Kimmy Jin, calm your shit," Beca said, sinking herself farther into her bed.

"Beca, I actively avoid you because you are a frustratingly endless pit of negativity. Maybe if you were more active in whatever it is that's making you unhappy now, you'll perk up a bit. Jesus Christ, you sit in that bed, sleep, and make mixes when you aren't at Bella's practice. You don't make an attempt to do anything. I'm so fed up with you. If it is your stupid little boyfriend that you're upset with, break up with him or tell him. If it's the fact that you're in love with that ginger chick, break up with your boyfriend and tell her. Sort our your life, for my sake, okay?" Kimmy turned away from the other girl, determined to ignore her for the rest of the night.

The small brunette rolled over so she was facing the wall, her eyebrows knit together. She didn't want to admit that Kimmy Jin, of all people, was right, but, as much as it pained her, she was. Kimmy had seen her with both Jesse and Chloe, and it didn't take a genius to figure out which person's company Beca preferred. She began outlining a plan for the next day, but quickly realized she wasn't in the mood to think anything through.

Kimmy Jin looked over at her roommate, scowling with disapproval, and sighed as loudly as she could with the sole intent of showing Beca how annoying it was. Beca stuck up her middle finger, shoved her face into her pillow, and went to sleep.
