Chapter 1
"Jack get up we need to train before the rebellion begins! It's not every day you get to overthrow a government."
"I have been up for the past two hours already Sadie, training doesn't start for another hour anyways. Just because you aren't as good as me doesn't mean you have to train every hour of every day."
I peeked my head out of my tent and saw her standing there in her combat gear looking absolutely deadly and stunning. We have been friends since we were little and in the past couple of months I have really begun to realize how beautiful she has become.
"What are you staring at? I know I am completely stunning but come on you don't need to stare."
"Ok so maybe I haven't been up for hours, the sun is a lot brighter than I thought." Lie, I actually have been up for hours but I can't let her know I have been staring at her. "So what is the plan today? Do you need me to teach you how to shoot a longbow? Want to practice stealth? Or tracking?" I add that more as a hope, training for tracking is the only time we are allowed to go outside the compound, and it would just be us by ourselves.
"I was thinking about going down to the market and buying some meat for my mom then we can go see what we are scheduled to do…"
"You are going to check the schedule?! Seriously! This is the first time you have ever even bothered to think about the schedule!" Why does she have to look at it today? I wanted to go and spend some time alone with her.
"Well true but I think that the elders were right, I need to start listening to the rules more…" The confused look on my face urged her on. And she pulled me off the road into one of the side alleys, "Jack, the elders said if I don't start following my routine then I won't be able to go on the invasion. I need to go!"
