Hey! Just a little one shot I thought of a while ago and didn't put up. I DO NOT OWN FAIRY TAIL. I imagined LoLu or NaLu when I wrote it. Note! I have no idea what I'm doing with most of my stories!

She'd been waiting, waiting for too long. He'd left three years ago, to fight against the darkness plaguing his home. "I'll be back soon. I promise." He'd said.

She'd let him go. "Be safe." She replied. She wanted to tell him that she loved him, but he was already gone.

She watched as he turned away, slowly disappearing to get to his home. A ripping feeling tore at her heart.

She didn't know when he'd get back.

Everyday, she'd ask around, wondering if he'd come back yet.

Everyday, she'd get a "No" in response.

She'd tried to not worry, but the feeling settled in the pit of her stomach.

One year passed, the pit deepening. No sign of him.

She had hope he'd return soon.

Another year passed, the pit deepening still. Still no sign of him.

The hope flickered, fading.

A third year passed, the pit turning into a never-ending void.

The hope was gone, leaving her an empty shell.

Just before the fourth year started, a knock on the door made her wistfully look towards the source of the noise.

She contemplated getting her sorry behind up and to the door, but she knew her heart would be broken if it wasn't him.

She forced herself against her will to get up and answer the door.

One step.

Two steps.

Three steps.

Four. Five. Six.

She reached her hand out slowly, forcing back the insecurities and hidden fears.

She almost pulled her hand back and retreated to her bed, but something stopped her.

She wanted to open the door.

She needed to open the door.

Her hand came into contact with the knob and she twisted it hesitantly.

She pulled gently, averting her eyes from the bright sunlight.

She looked to her visitor.

It was…

Him.

"I'm home."
