Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizadry used to be the safest of havens. Young wizards flourished under Dumbledore's reign. Some were studious and some not so much, but not one could deny that they walked away from Hogwarts with all the skills they needed under their belt. Hogwarts birthed the smartest of Aurors and the darkest of wizards, each fueling the ultimate war of good versus evil. With time, everything changes but no one would suspect the tumultuous affects the outcome of the war had on the wizarding world. But in order to understand how this could happen, we need to watch the chain of events that lead to that sole disastrous moment that meant the end for the world we knew.

It was in Harry Potter's sixth year that Dumbledore died by Evil's calloused hands. Harry had every intention of following through with Dumbledore's plans and destroying the last and final horcrux, and Voldemort himself. But why didn't he? The answer is simple: a little thing called "life" got in the way. Harry fell in love with Ginny Weasley all over again, and it wasn't soon after they had gotten out of school that they were married. The kids started coming a few years afterwards. Apparently, everyone else seemed to be getting bitten by the love bug-- it wasn't soon after Harry and Ginny's wedding that Ron and Hermione decided to have one of their own. But it was inevitable: when Harry and the trio were thirty two, the prophecy and all of its burdens came a-knocking once more.

Everyone expected the war to be over and done with in a year. It wasn't until two, three, four, five years later that the last Horcrux was located. And very, very soon after they had found the Horcrux, they had found Voldemort (and he wasn't very happy about that). And so, the long-awaited final battle ensued. Blood was shed, lives were lost, and loyalties were tested. By the end of it, there were countless casualties. Some of the greater people involved, excepted to conquer, were lost in the battle.

Harry Potter, dead.

Ginny Potter, dead.

Ron and Hermione Weasley, dead.

Remus Lupin, missing.

Reformed Death Eater, Draco Malfoy, dead.

Unfortunately for the rest of the Wizarding World, Voldemort and only a handful of Death Eaters survived the Final Battle. The Wizarding World was in turmoil. Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, the man that they looked towards to pull them out of the darkness, was dead. Children were sent to relatives, remains of the deceased witches and wizards were buried -- and most importantly, life went on. The children grew older and a new prophecy was eventually issued.

Yes, a new prophecy. It was certainly lamentable that no one was around to hear this prophecy, issued by fifth year Hufflepuff, Bailey Loew. With Voldemort at large, it certainly would have been a great help to know who of the Hogwarts children would be destined to pull the Wizarding World out of darkness. What a pity.
