I said 'I love you' Dumbass!

Mello never pretended to be anything he wasn't. If he was pissed off, he was honest about it. He wasn't often sad, but when he was, he didn't hide it. Dammit, the boy was completely insane and terribly scary—at least he never denied it.

--

"Matt, you're my best friend." The blonde said, and continued eating his chocolate. Matt could only blink, because Mello's voice sort of made him feel light-headed.

--

Matt was kicking Near's ass at Mario Cart, when Mello came in.

"I've been thinking," he said, distinctly ignoring Near and staring at the redhead. "And I thought you might wanted to know—Matt, I think you're hot."

Matt rocketed Near into the sky with a bomb, and murmured: "huh? Yeah, 'kay Mell."

Mello nodded approvingly and left the room again. Near gave up, putting the remote again and he leaned against Matt's bed. Looking curiously at the older boy, he said: "Mello just said that you're hot."

Matt grinned, seeing as he'd just won, but then his eyes suddenly widened in realisation.

"He WHAT—!"

--

"You said you think I'm hot!" Matt screeched accusingly. He nervously fidgeted with his goggles.

Mello looked up from the book he was reading—they were in Wammy's library.

"I know." The blonde frowned.

"But what does that mean? 'I think you're hot'?" He ranted.

"Well, it means just that, really," Mello said coldly, looking down at his book. The redhead paced the floor in distress. "Matt, seriously stop freaking out. I said I think you're hot—I wasn't declaring my undying love for you or anything. Stop flipping."

Matt swallowed harshly and nodded.

"Yea—yeah… you're right. Thanks Mell." But something about Mello's compliment made him fuzzy and warm inside.

--

"Hey Mell," Matt looked up at his blonde best friend. "Listen," Mello lifted his head—they were back in their room, both in their own beds. "Since you've been so honest with me lately, I thought, well…" The blonde raised an eyebrow, and Matt stared at him through his goggles—somehow he seemed nervous. "Whatyousaidaboutundyinglove, wellIkindathinkIloveyou."

Mello grinned—but not because he got it, more because of Matt's mad rambling.

"What the fuck Matt?" He laughed.

"I said I love you." The boy blushed deeply, looking at his feet.

"Oh," Mello frowned, and Matt looked up at him quickly, somewhat wary of what he'd say next. "That's okay—I love you too."

"You—wha?"

"I said 'I love you', dumbass," Mello scooped against the wall, and opened up the covers. "Now get your pretty little butt over here."

And Matt did.

--

Matt pretended to be loads of things he wasn't. He often pretended to be an aeroplane, or Mario. When he was sad his smile was still as radiant as ever. Dammit, the boy was a nutcase and madly in love with his best friend—at least he never denied that.

AN: Hehe. (Laughs nervousish) I had to get that out of my system--it's all rambles, but let me know what you think nonetheless.
