A Look In The Mirror

Chapter 1 - What Am I?

Sophie stands in her cabin, looking around the spacious room she can't help wonder how Cerberus managed to replicate the most advanced warship in the Alliance navy. "This is nothing but a copy. This isn't my home..." she mutters to herself, looking at the large display case sitting above her desk. There's a lone model hanging on one of the many hooks. A model of the SR1. How did the Illusive man know she once collected model ships? She'd had a few from her youth when she was constantly moving from ship to ship. She looks to the desk now, a blank picture frame sits on it, the screen black. She picks it up and as she does the image forms. She almost drops it out of shock. The picture Tali had taken of Liara and her when she was discharged from hospital two years ago stares back at her. The pair of them surprised by Tali's call to smile. Putting the frame down she slumps in the chair by the desk "Shit.. it really has been two years..."

She notices the fish tank as she continues to look around the cabin. She doubts she'll get any fish to fill it. Standing from the chair she groans in pain, her hand clutching her side as she heads toward the concealed door for her bathroom. She'd been grateful to Miranda for telling her about this, but she still doesn't trust the woman fully. As she enters the small bathroom she spots the tall mirror on the wall. She strips off the Cerberus uniform and tosses it aside, her wardrobe is packed with them anyways and she wasn't going to wear the colonist outfit that looked like it was made from a burlap sack.

Standing in front of the mirror in her skivvies Sophie looks over herself. Her face has a web of scarring on the right cheek with a singular one that branches off to the end of her jaw line. As she looks at her torso though she can't help the gasp of disbelief and the way her head turns in disgust. There's a massive scar running the length of her torso, perfectly bisecting it. It starts above her breasts and ends at her belly button. It glows a menacing orange, much brighter than the scarring on her face, it too has scars that branch off of it and in turn they have scars branching off of them, much thinner and less bright though. There's a mass of scarring where her heart would be. Her arms and legs also carry scarring, not as bad as her torso but she can make out a few small, lightly glowing ones.

She can't stand looking anymore. She steps away and toward the shower and as she does so Miranda's voice sounds over her cabin's comm. "Shepard. ETA one hour to Omega." She doesn't reply. She strips off her underwear and steps into the shower and turns it on. The blast of cold water is certainly welcome. She'll take her damn time and join Miranda and Jacob at the airlock when she's ready. First stop, finding Mordin Solus or the vigilante known as Archangel.
