Just as a note, I don't own any characters mentioned here. They all belong to 2K, and the only thing that could be considered mine is the headcanons for Cabot I have.
No one really knew why Cabot wore those old goggles around his neck. He was never seen without them, but oddly enough he never actually wore them over his eyes. It bothered some of the more curious Hunters to the point where, at one time or another, each individual of the intrigued would ask.
Each time, he would just get a faint smile on his face and go about what he was doing before they asked.
A few even tried inquiring Bucket about the goggles, as the robot was, after all, the man's partner. And again, they would not get answers, but instead Bucket responding with a, "That is something only Marshall can answer." Marshall being what the bot usually called Cabot.
So one day, Caira Diaz, one of the Medics, sat down next to William. She proceeded to have a carefully planned conversation with him, that she expected to lead to the origin of the goggles. Instead, the Captain somehow saw through each time she got close, casually veering the topic off course.
An hour later, finally fed up with him, she almost shouted the question. Instead, she politely, quietly asked it. Cabot got that faint smile again, and Caira waited for him to just go about what he had just been conversing about.
To the Medic's surprise, he said, "They were my father's." It wasn't much of an answer, but it certainly was one. She waited to see if he was going to say anything else, and after a moment the smile faded as he continued with a, "He disappeared a long time ago."
Caira never shared what he said. It seemed he had been confiding in her, in a way. She was thrilled, in a way, to have been entrusted with a secret. No matter how small.
And it was also fun to rub in everyone else's faces she got Cabot to tell her a secret that he had told no one else.
A/N: So because of the shortage of Evolve fanfics, I decided to write a small drabble while I worked on a much bigger fanfic. Also, I might have written someone out of character by accident. Cabot never seems to talk for me when I play and I haven't unlocked Caira yet, though I like to think that they're pretty friendly with each other. Hell, I think Cabot is just friendly in general xD He seems like that cool, nice, kinda funny dude when off duty. I also have a bunch of headcanons about Cabot's family and past n stuff because like not a lot of in depth background shit. Hope that all you peeps that read this liked it.
