EXTRICATION

The Winchesters raised their bowed heads and squinted at the clank of the door opening. They peered at their burly captor with suspicion as he approached.

"You's free to go."

Dean's eyes flashed in anger as he watched the man bend forward and release the chains binding him and Sam to each other and to the wall. The chains fell to the ground with a dull clunk.

"Why? So you can get us in the deadline out there and those other sons-a-bitches with you can shoot us?" he growled.

The other man cocked his head, an eerie grin splitting his grimy face. He spit a plug of chaw at Dean's feet and let loose with a gravelly chuckle. "Mebbe."

Dean's tongue darted out to moisten his chapped bottom lip while his gaze flicked to Sam. "Yeah. Ain't happenin'." With speed born of both skill and desperation, Dean launched himself at their tormenter, struggling to wrestle the beefy man to the ground. "Sam, go!"

"Dean?"

"I'm right behind you," Dean assured as he brought the struggling tormentor under control, finally planting a knee in the guy's neck to hold him still. "I think we'll find our own way out, scum licker."

FIN

A/N: I used on old definition of the word deadline and took a little poetic license with it to fit my story. 3. (formerly) a boundary around a military prison beyond which a prisoner could not venture without risk of being shot by the guards.
