'Their grinning at me and whispering behind my back" John thought to himself. 'Damn, she couldn't possibly be displaying that damn picture here in New York could she?'
He heaved a sigh and tried to decide whom he could trust to ask about it.
"Olivia, where's the damn thing being displayed?" John asked.
"A gallery in DUMBO," Olivia said with a smile that threatened to turn into laughter.
He could tell she was fighting the urge to make a comment. "Go ahead get your wiseass remark off, wouldn't want to stifle your opportunity for laughter, after all laughter is good medicine."
"You feel that way about everyone, or you just gonna go easy on Olivia? 'Cause if it's open season on your skinny ass, then I got a few things to say," Fin commented.
"Speaking of skinny ass, actually"-
"I'd really rather you guys NOT speak about my skinny ass, thank you very much," John said interrupting Elliot.
"I don't know, I didn't think your ass looked too skinny," Olivia offered. "Of course, I was a bit distracted by the length of your hair and the size of the paper required to cover your, uh, assets."
"Well, hairs a lot shorter and greyer, but the 'assets' are the same," John said with a grin.
"Munch!" his fellow detectives said at once.
"Children, if you're done teasing John boy, you think you could get some work done today?" Captain Cragen asked.
A chorus of yes sirs followed and everyone got busy or at least looked busy.
"John, my office, now." Cragen insisted.
John walked into Cragen's office and closed the door.
"Where the hell did this artist get that picture?"
"She was a girlfriend of mine a lifetime ago," John answered.
"And she decided a larger than life nude photo of you would be just the thing to feature in her art showing?
"Well, it worked for her before in Baltimore."
"So she figured why not try it in the Big Apple?"
John nodded.
"Well, I suggest you go buy the damn thing, before somebody in the NYPD's IAB decides it's a problem."
"Don't you think I tried that in Baltimore?"
"She won't sell it to you?"
"I won't pay her price."
"John," Cragen said in a warning tone.
"OK, let's hope she still thinks I'm worth it."
