Why?

A/N

It was sort of hard to write this story as it was from a point of view that I'm not too familiar with: Girl talk. Oh well, let's see how it goes.

The two of them found a bench near the dumplings shop and sat down. Tenten followed shortly after with the dumplings for herself and the two blondes.

The two people here were Temari's closest friends. Aside from Shikamaru of course.

Ino was the one who suggested the dumplings. Strange, as it surprised Temari that Ino ate anything other than the essentials.

Then again, she probably just wanted an excuse to hang out with Temari and ask some questions.

"So," Ino began, ready to prove Temari right. "Why do you like about Shikamaru?"

Temari almost choked on her dumpling. "Excuse me?" She asked. "What makes you think that I do?"

"Well for one you're always around with him."

"He's my escort."

Ino continued as if she didn't hear anything. "Secondly you seem very happy when you are with him."

Temari looked at her curiously.

"I'm Shikamaru's friend too, of course I see him with you every now and again." She rolled her eyes.

"You know it's obvious, Tema," Tenten said, finally being a part of the conversation. "That you like him. It's also obvious however," She leaned a little closer. "That he likes you too."

Ino giggled. "So spill, Temari. What's so great about him."

Temari sighed. These two wouldn't let her leave without saying anything, so she may as well say something. "Well, I guess it's because he's...different."

"How so?" Tenten asked.

"Well he isn't afraid to speak his mind towards me, so I can trust him to be honest." Temari found herself looking at the sky. "He's laid back, and even though it can be a little too much, it in turn made me more relaxed as well."

She heard Ino give an "aw" sound but she ignored it. "Shika-kun's smart as well. Someone who I can talk to and relate to. He's a person who can be deep when he wants to be, someone who will make me think twice about some of the things I do."

She looked back at the girls. "I guess that's why I like him."

Temari stood up. "Well I got a meeting soon," she said and she began to walk. "See you two later then."

Ino looked at Tenten once Temari was out of earshot. "Funny," she said.

Temari looked at him questioningly.

Ino smiled. "What she said about Shika. Those things were what I hate about him.
