The sound of cloth fluttering and heels clicking fill the bare room until the noise echoes all around. The air whistles as a blade slices through, dancing with its user.
Weiss twirls as she dodges then strikes and parries an enemy of her imagining. After finishing the combo she comes to a standstill, her eyes close as she concentrates on steadying her breathing. She pauses long enough for her breaths to sound less labored and prepares for another bout, but before she can begin a door to the training area creaks open and catches her attention.
"I thought I would find you here."
Weiss doesn't bother to open her eyes, the voice belonging to someone she is all but too familiar with. She grimaced not expecting nor wanting an audience during her practice, even if it was her partner.
"Did you need something from me?" Weiss said, not bothering to hide the irritation in her tone.
"I just wanted to see you." Came the cheery reply. "But if I'm being a nuisance I can leave." The statement was weighed with guilt and melancholy.
Weiss snapped open her eyes and quickly turned to face her partner. She prepared to refute her statement, but the cocky grin made her think otherwise as her expression fell into a scowl.
"Ruby Rose! Honestly!" Weiss scolded halfheartedly.
Ruby giggled delightedly before skipping over to her and studying Myrtenaster in her hand.
"Training again? Don't you ever get tired of it?"
Weiss gave a huff and spun around to face away from her. "Unlike you, I prefer to keep my body in top form at all times."
Receiving no immediate reply Weiss closed her eyes and readied herself for another round against her illusory opponents. Holding Myrtenaster before her she took a deep breath and exhaled it. However, before she could start she stiffened as she felt a hand slide over her hip and another grabbing her hand armed with Myrtenaster.
"What do you think you're doing?" She demanded quietly as Ruby's lips brushed past her ear.
"Distracting you." She said in a breathy whisper over her ear.
Weiss suppressed a shudder, her teeth clenched so would she not let out a sound, and her brow furrowed slightly as she tried to concentrate on anything but Ruby's proximity.
Ruby's fingers playfully drummed along her side, dancing over the hem of her top while her lips grazed over her ear once more.
"Is it working?" She whispered teasingly.
"You're such a child."
Weiss released her grip on Myrtenaster and allowed it to clatter onto the floor. Scratches on her weapon being the least of her worries.
She spun around in Ruby's grasp to face her, then grabbing the collar of her hood in both hands she pulled her into a kiss. Ruby happily obliged in reciprocating, giggling and smiling into it. Before they could run out of breath Weiss broke the contact frowning at the goofy smile on Ruby's face.
"If you wanted to get my attention there were more appropriate ways to attain it."
Ruby chuckled softly, taking one of Weiss' hands and bringing it to her lips to press a kiss on the back of it.
"How about that?" She said warmly.
Weiss' face began to flush as she slipped her hand from Ruby's hold and turned away from her to hide the blush.
"I suppose that was…adequate."
Ruby laughed gleefully and moved towards Weiss wrapping her arms around her once again, nuzzling her cheek against the back of her neck affectionately all the while.
Weiss smiled upon the action then took both of Ruby's hands into her own, pulling them forward to tug the girl closer against her.
"I think I prefer this much more."
