A/N: One of the lines in here is from the abc-family hit series Make it or Break it. I don't own anything.
I looked through the window of the door hoping to see her.
I scanned through the crowd of wooden easels that supported colorful canvases. Finally I spotted her from the lime-green top she was wearing. She looked beautiful, as always.
I heard the crumpling of the plastic wrap in my hand that held purple lilies. They were her favorite flower.
My palms began to sweat as I wondered if she would like her gift. I had no idea what to get her and after secret attempts to get her to spill what she wanted, I finally listened to what she said. She would be happy with whatever I picked out. No one ever said that to me.
I watched from behind, hoping to catch a quick glance at what she was working on. But all I saw was a blank canvas.
I stared, completely aw-struck as she mixed the colors of paint. I had no idea what she was doing. It looked like she was making a mess, a beautiful mess.
Seconds passed......
Then minutes…..
I didn't even know how long I had been standing there, just watching her, watching her paint, watching her face light up with every stroke of her fine tipped brush, and just absorbing all of her beauty.
Bing!
The bell woke me from my trance but I knew I would fall right back in again after I kissed her.
"Hey," her angelic voice said causing chills to run down my spine. Her finger-tips gently brushed my bare arm as she leaned in for a kiss. Our lips met and when we were just inched apart I whispered, "Hey babe."
Pulling apart I brought the flowers out from behind my back and watched her face light up just like it did when she painted. But this time her eyebrows didn't curve up in speculation. I loved how she could just be happy with me.
"There for aromatherapy," I said with a smile as I brought the lilies to my nose. I heard a quiet laugh play from her lips and I thought about how long I had been waiting to say this to her.
I handed them too her and watched her inhale the fresh scent as I inhaled her scent, the one that drove me crazy.
It was the Enchanted Orchard mist that always seemed to grab a hold of my senses. I smelt it wherever I went. But when she was around it smelt so much sweeter.
"Thanks, I love them." She said as she pulled me in for another kiss and I didn't object.
"You know, that's not even your present." I said with a laugh.
"Oh yeah," she said with a grin.
I pulled a red velvet box out of my pocket and heard a gasp in shock.
"Jackson, you didn't-."
"No, Mel. I want you to have this." I opened the lid and watched her eyes widen.
"It's beautiful," she whispered.
I pulled the silver bracelet out and slipped it onto her wrist.
It had a heart in-scripted with: "I love you-Jackson."
"I love you, Mel."
"I love you too," she said.
I, Cody Jackson, was a blank canvas until I met her, until she brought out all of my colors.
