"Honesty dear, I don't understand why you have to have it done this way!" said the red-headed woman to her husband as they walked through the door of the office.
"I just want to see if the rumors are true!" The man said in reply. The little boy clutching his fathers hand said nothing. Neither did the little girl holding his other hand. "I promise if this goes awry we can go back and have it fixed at Lorielles'!"
"Just so long as you don't end up at St. Mungos'" At this the little girl looked terrified.
"No daddy! Don't get hurt!"
"Shh" he said bending down to her level "daddy is not going to get hurt, despite what mommy says." His wife rolled her eyes.
The little brown haired girl sitting in the waiting room watched the scene before her, she had seen many like this before. Something was different about it this time though, something was just a little unusual. The little boy looked over at her and she quickly looked back at the book on her lap.
"You two go and play now, see there are some toys in the corner even." The mother ushered her son and daughter over to the toy-box. They lifted the lid and took out a few toys, one of them, the little brown haired girl noted, was the little her favorite; it was a little brown clockwork mouse. The other little girl delightedly snatched it up and set it on the ground. Then she waited, the little brown haired girl was puzzled, she didn't wind it? What was she waiting for? She looked over at the girls brother, he was looking equally as confused over the box of legos. The brown haired girl decided this was not right. She slid off the chair she was sitting on and walked over, book tucked under her arm, to the two confused children.
"You have to wind it" she said to the younger girl. When her suggestion was met with confused expression, she picked up the mouse wound it herself and placed it on the floor.
"oh!" gasped the second girl through giggles.
"Do I have to wind theses too?" asked her brother looking into the lego box.
"You've never played with legos before?" the brown haired girl was astonished, she thought everyone played with legos. She looked over at their mother. She looks like an average mum she thought, surely she would have bought her children toys.
"Here you play with them like this." After the initial confusion the three played happily in the corner until the father appeared again, mouth muffled with cotton. He was holding his face in his hands.
"Arthur!" the woman gasped, "I knew it!"
"No Molly honestly it's fine" he slurred "I just can't feel my face! it's amazing!" Molly rolled her eyes.
"Come along you two" she called to the children. "We don't want to be late getting the twins!"
"Bye!" called the little girl as they were leaving. The little brown haired girl waved, and just before they disappeared through the door the little boy turned and gave her a smile. I wonder if they will ever come back? The little girl thought as she situated herself in her favorite chair and opened her book.
