Severus Snape Gets Fleeced

Most people who knew Severus Snape also knew that he hated to observe his birthday on January 9th. It was a good day to stay away from him. Whether you were on the giving or getting part of him, it was generally not pleasant. Still, for a select few who favored living on the dangerous edge, a plan was hatched to take care of the ole coot. With good will in their hearts, it was decided that all the giving's would be practical, and in colors that Severus would actually use. It was dam cold in the dungeons this time of the year. Polar Fleece was becoming the thing to have to combat cold. So…. All the gifts would be made of this material. It was optional to reveal the giver's name.

Albus gave him socks. He always gave Severus crazy colored socks. These however were a very sedate black and brown. "Fleece socks for warm dungeon feet. Underneath these was a pair of purple and yellow striped socks: Crazy fleece socks.. for bed. It was beyond Albus not to include the bed socks. Severus was semi OK with Albus" gift. He really wasn't used to getting birthday, or any gifts for that matter. A few more things appeared at the foot of his bed that morning. Someone gave him a dark green pair of soft fleece gloves, and Professor Granger, just back from the States, gifted him with two Old Navy Fleece shirts. A black one with yellow trim, and a navy blue with black trim.

That evening after dinner, there was his favorite chocolate walnut bourbon cake in the staff lounge. No one sang Happy Birthday. The staff couldn't resist wishing him "warm wishes" A very uneasy Severus thanked his colleagues, and gave them a gift of a very small and very fast smile. It was enough. They were happy.

As he crawled into bed that night he discovered Minerva's gift to him: the softest, warmest, fluffiest black fleece sheets and pillow cases. So warm was he that a yellow and purple foot could be seen sticking out from under the covers.
