Disclaimer : I don't own Death Note.
Pairing : MattMello
Notes : Why do I only write fluff? Because I feel so sad for those two I want to give them all the love and fluff in the world. Seriously.
The air was thick, hot. It was not unpleasant though, no, it still held a softness that made them feel so good in their daze.
For five days in a row, they had been working on a new plan non-stop, getting one to three hours of sleep a night. Everything was hectic and they were determined to make it, the both of them. They were making such efforts, even lazy Mattie... Giving their very best, never letting go, their eyes teary, burning from staring at the screens for too long combined with the absolute lack of sleep.
And they had made it.
For now, they were laying, their limbs tangled up together, sprawled all over the bed. They were dead tired, too exhausted to even move and pull the blankets up over them, but somehow this was enough. Mello's hand gently stroking Matt's hair, lovingly ; Matt's arms wrapped carefully around Mello's waist. He drank into his scent, kissed his chin softly. Every single move took just so much energy... Mello nuzzled his hair fondly, in this perfect 'We made it, I love you' way.
The moment was so simple and breathtaking, it shouted 'Victory!' all over them, it just showed how perfectly they had succeeded. It showed they had worked well, and Mello smiled sleepily into his lover's poppy strands. He had never outsmarted Near in his life, but with Matt by his side, with Matt's arms around him and his sloppy kisses pressed to his skin, he could do anything. Near meant nothing when you had Matt's kisses. Near's intelligence was just an unimportant, unnoticeable part of the background when Matt's sweet pout met Mello's longing lips.
The sun was filtering through the curtains and warming the room. Not quite as much as their skin touching, not quite as much as their eyes meeting.
Slowly drifting off to sleep, they merely held each other a little tighter and waited for slumber to take over. Matt's fingers were still absently playing with Mello's blond, pretty hair.
