"I can't explain it, Boq," Nessa says. "You just make me feel…happy."
"I know what you mean, Nessa," Boq agrees as he tries to hide his glances at Galinda. Nessa doesn't have to know that I don't mean I feel the same way about her.
"What are you looking at?" Nessa asks.
"Nothing. Er…I have to go."
"Wait," Nessa says in a calm, quiet voice. "Take your time. Stay with me."
"No, Nessa, I really have to go."
"Wait!" Her plea is lost as Boq rushes out of the room.
"You may make me happy, Boq, but there's no hiding that I'll never make you happy."
