"Why do you always do that?" He barely heard his friend speak; he was too busy watching a young girl storm off.
"She's a nice girl and all you do is torment her."
It was true; every time she came bouncing in he would make fun of her. Whether it was about her hair, her grades, the amount of food she could consumeā¦It was a fun little game he played. He admitted to himself that maybe it wasn't the best thing to do, but it was the only way he knew how to deal with the situation. Not that he would ever admit this to anyone, he tried to forget it himself, but he liked the girl. He liked her a lot. Unfortunately when it came to showing emotion, well he knew he wasn't the best. Mostly he was afraid of letting anyone in. Sure he had his best friend, but even then he kept him at a distance. Never revealed too much of himself, never let anyone in.
This girl though, he knew that she could change everything for him. That terrified him; that was why he teased her. It was his way of keeping her away, but still having her apart of his life. He wasn't sure why she put up with it, but she always came back for more. He was glad for that.
"Hey Dare! Are you listening to me?"
He looked over at his friend, "more coffee?"
His friend just shook his head and refilled the cup, "I'll never understand you."
