Fabian Rutter sits on his bed, staring at the clock, but not seeing anything at all. Three twenty-seven AM. It reads, the red light blurry and almost invisible to the broken brunette boy. His roommate, Eddie Miller, sits up as Fabian begins to look at a picture.
"This isn't happening, she's not gone. I know she's not, she can't be! She'll come back. Nina will come back. She always comes back," the boy whispers to himself.
"She loves you, Fabian. She still loves you like you love her, and she'll come back. You know she will."
"Fabian? Are you alright, man?" Eddie asks suddenly, concerned with his roommates behavior.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Fabian mumbles from the other side of the room, his voice strained and watery.
Eddie decides that Fabian really isn't okay, and shuffles over to where he sits. As his friend comes over, Fabian crumples the picture and tosses it in the trash, getting up and leaving the room to find peace somewhere else.
Before following Fabian, Eddie decides to look at the picture. He takes it out of the trash, unfolds it, and immediately realizes why his roommate is so distressed.
The picture is of Fabian and Nina kissing. Fabian's lips are pressed fiercely against his girlfriend's, and both are smiling into the kiss. His hands are cupping her face, and she's tangled her's into his hair. They look so incredibly happy, but that happiness was taken away by distance.
The tall blonde tiptoes out into the common room, where he finds his roommate sitting on one of the couches, staring at his hands. When Fabian notices Eddie's presence, he gets up, and leaves, tears evident on his pale face.
And Eddie sees just how broken his friend is.
Not my best story, but I like it. :) Review please! - Sydney
