Schuldig awoke to a thump at his feet as a box was unceremoniously deposited there, and sat up, rubbing sleep from his eyes and pushing his hair away. Other beds were receiving the same delivery. Some beds, occupied the night before, were now empty and received no box. He leaned out to look above- that bed was now bare.

Reaching forward he pulled the box closer and open. His fingertips found soft fabric, and the coat he lifted out was white, clean and new; nothing like the uniform issued on arrival, slept in and worn.

Today would be graduation day.
