Caitlyn Gellar hated New Years. She really did. Well, she didn't exactly hate, like, the new year. She just despised the romantic aspect of it. The absurd superstition that if you didn't kiss someone once the hands on the clock strock twelve then you'd be lonely. How ridiculous is that? Why would it matter if you kissed someone at exactly twelve? Were like the love gods and goddesses watching you..making sure you kissed someone as the ball finally reaches the bottom? If you didn't, then they'd curse you with loneliness for the next year? Are they implying that as long you kiss someone at exactly twelve, you'll never be lonely? That's preposterous! Completely preposterous!
New Years should be about the happiness the New Years holds you. Not whether you're going to be single or not for the next year! If the New Years kiss was so utterly ridiculous, then why did Caitlyn crave for it so much? Don't get her wrong, she does not believe in supstitions whatsoever, but she does have somewhat of a romantic bone in her body. Suprising, huh?
So when Mitchie had called and told her that the whole Camp Rock/Camp Star gang were getting together to ring in the new year, she had to except. Despite the fact she was really looking foward to the plans she had made herself. Ya know, the one where she'd sit at home alone, put on her snuggie and watch scary, non-romantic movies and stuff herself with all kinds of goodies. But how pathtic would that of looked if she would of told Mitchie she had better plans?
So here she was, hid away in the corner at Connect 3's condo as the rest of the party go'ers danced and chatted. She watched as Mitchie and Shane clung to eachother. Jason was informing Ella on his last Bird-Watching convention. Tess, Peggy, Lola, Barron, and Sander were all dancing together. And Nate? He was noone where to be found, probably off somewhere being all cute with Dana. Caitlyn rolled her eyes at her name. Dana. Not that Dana was a witch or anything, she was nice. But she was overrated.
It was the typical love story with her and Nate. The guy falling for the forbidden girl. The girl's dad tell her daughter to stay away from the guy and yelling at the guy if he even stepped foot on his terroritory. The guy and girl stand up for their romance and the girl father's sort of accepts it and they all live happily ever after. The end.
She wasn't jealous. Okay, that's a lie she was completely jealous. So what if she'd had a crush on Nate for the past two years? It's not like it matters. He's with Dana..wait, then why was he standing infront of her?
"Why are you hiding?" Nate finally asked after staring at her for what seemed like forever, not that she minded him staring at her.
"Why aren't you with Dana?" She snapped back.
Nate motioned towards Luke, who was currently in a lip lock with Dana.
Now she felt stupid. "Oh, I'm sorry.."
Nate shurgged. "It's fine. She's happy with him and I'm happy with..myself."
She caught herself wishing he'd finish with her name. "Then who are you going to kiss at twelve? You don't want to be lonely, do you?"
"I'll find someone. C'mon, any girl would die to kiss Nate Grey!"
Caitlyn rolled her eyes just as people began to count down. 20...19...18.. "Well you better find someone quick."
He winked and her heart melted. "Don't worry."
10..9...8...7...6. "Oh, I won't. But you should."
.5...4...3...2...ONE-
They'd barely finish the word one as Nate grabbed her waist and crashed his lips onto hers. She was shocked at first, she really was, but instantaneously found herself kissing him back. It was amazing. Her arms looped around his neck, hands lost in his hair. His arms pulling her closer to him. It was perfect, then he pulled away.
"Happy New Year's, Cait." He whispered softly in her ear.
Yeah, she had a feeling neither of them would be lonely this year.
