When you arrived at your small island in your little rowing boat, your knuckles white from your death grip on the worn oars, it was nothing but a confusing swirl of stormy gray.
"Riku! Kairi!"
Of course it was raining. The fat droplets drowned out your voice, hoarse and raw from screaming. Their boats were secured to the shabbily constructed pier with messily tied ropes, but the owners were nowhere in sight.
You didn't expect to see them, anyway. They were lost. You were lost.
Your feet were still rapidly traversing across the wet sand—grains were stuck to the sides of your sneakers—and you knew not why.
